Me: Hello and welcome to my blog, Renée. Congratulations on your new book, Swear on This Life. How will you express your feelings about this book that has already won the hearts of so many readers?

Renée: Hello and thank you for having me. I'm very happy to be here. I'll do my best to describe a little about my process of writing and about this book.

Me: How did you research for the plot? And please tell us briefly about your inspiration behind such a heart touching plot.

Renée: A lot of this story was bits and pieces of my own life, twisted up and made into fiction. I loved the idea about telling the story of a struggling writer who is thinking about writing a memoir when her ex beats her to the punch. I thought the character would feel angry but also flattered. I also thought it would be a good tool for Emiline to use to heal.

Me: Tell us one trait about your main characters, Emiline and Jason, that intrigues you the most.

Renée: Despite Jason's very difficult childhood, his immense loss, he had a wisdom and compassion at a very young age. Oddly I credit the fact that he had a television and cable to much of his understanding of the world. He watched educational shows and was self-taught many things. Emiline in the same way. What I appreciate about Emiline is her strength once she discovers there are things that are out of her control.

Me: How will you describe your journey so far as an author?

Renée: I love writing everyday. It's truly my dream job. I never feel put off by writing. There are times when I am trying to get to a certain word count and there is pressure, but usually all it takes is a short break to get the creative juices flowing again.

Me: Was it always your one true dream to be an author?

Renée: No. I wanted to be a lot of things: a dolphin trainer, a horse jockey, a film maker, a photographer, a teacher. Some of those careers I did pursue and achieve but where short lived. I wrote for fun and then realized I had to try and make it my career if I wanted to be really happy.

Me: What other passions do you have apart from writing?

Renée: Music and chocolate, reading and the beach. I love swimming in the ocean. It's one of my favorite things to do. I also have to have music playing at all times. It's extremely soothing to me, even if it's loud rock and roll. Something about music allows me to be more comfortable in my head.

Me: What's next up on your writing sleeves? Please tell us briefly about it.

Renée: Lucian Divine is slated for a January release. Here is the early description...

“My guardian angel is a drunk.”

Evelyn Casey's life is at a standstill. She's in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crumby apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It's absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.

And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he's a guardian angel, on the job for two thousand years. This is both good–he's brilliant, witty and warm–and bad–he's brilliant, witty, warm and hot as ----. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.

For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.

Yes: God as in God.

Me: Thanks Renée for joining me today on this interview session. I wish you luck for all your future endeavors.

Renée: Thank you so much for having me and for reading SWEAR ON THIS LIFE!!
