Real Book or E-Book- The Debate Is On!

Here I'm going to blabber away about world's one of the most discussed topic: Real books or E-books?!

I'm a traditional reader, not because, I don't have enough money to buy a kindle or an e-reader, but because I love reading a book while holding them in my hands! Why? Because, the pleasure you get from reading a real book is worthwhile and that feeling is millions of miles away from an e-book.
I call e-book as just a trend! A shortcut to reading! And e-books are definitely changing the reading habits among young kids- a complete detrimental effect on their reading levels.

Why e-book is better? Because it's easily available, cheap to purchase, saves your pocket-money, and quick to read and can be shared easily. Whereas real books are just the opposite- too expensive, sometimes almost burns our pockets, not at all easy to carry it around while traveling or not at easy to share. So Blah! All downsides! So what's the positive thing about a real book?  Well there is not "a" positive thing about a real book, but there are "a lot of" positive things about a real book!
Just to name a few:
  • Touch and Feel

I can't express it in words that what it feels like when you turn the pages of your favourite novel. Something so precious that e-books can't offer in their pixels. You can almost have a relationship with the novel that you're reading.

  •  Precious to Collect

Can you ever brag about owning the first edition of Charles Dickens novel, if you have that first edition downloaded on your kindle? No you can't! Moreover, it'll be a disrespect to one of the world's most greatest author. You can make a library of yours and show it to the world. For reference, above picture is of my own bookshelf, which is almost overflowing now! Books are like heritage- passing down from one gen to another. Although, they are expensive, still they are a precious thing to own.

  • Eyes are in Check
Yeah, that;s right. You might never get glasses, if you stick to real books! But prolonged reading on an e-reader can damage your retina permanently. Even it makes you feel dizzy and after looking at the kindle for a prolonged time, might cause neck and back-ache! So beware of those symptoms, since e-books can sometimes be a real pain-in-ass! Where as real books are easy to read, no dizziness and headache or back and neck ache- trust me when it's coming from an avid real book reader like me!

One of the best advantage of an e-book is that it is one of the best marketing tool for the authors! Yes, have you heard of ARC?- Advanced Review Copies? Yeah, that;s what is happening now-a-days! The authors first publish their books on kindle and nook, then they get the reviewers to review the book for them, and after that maybe sometimes years late, the paperback comes out! So yeah, I can't say, e-books are totally useless, since it is a great marketing tool! Wondering what Shakespeare or Jane Austen or Robert Frost would have done, if in their times this very trend of e-books existed? :-D

Well, I  wish I could go on and on forever.....
But my blog would fall shorter for writing down all those reasons behind the advantages of a real book. But still at the end of the day, it's entirely a personal choice, not something to be judged about. But I'd recommend or rather say encourage to read physical books.
